The Performers(‘) Present international artistic research symposium returns to YST with its 2026 edition, Interweaving, bringing together performers, researchers, educators, composers and artists from around the world for four days of performances, dialogue and artistic exchange.

Inspired by the act of weaving as a metaphor for connection and creative possibility, Interweaving explores the relationships between Southeast Asian and Western artistic traditions; the intersections of research and performance; the role of music in wellbeing and community; and the evolving dialogue between human creativity and artificial intelligence.

The symposium features keynote presentations by Joseph N. Straus, Vanessa Tomlinson, and Piyawat Louilarpprasert, alongside performances and artistic contributions by internationally acclaimed composer Dai Fujikura, Mivos Quartet, and other distinguished guest artists.

Concert highlights include the Opening Concert: Living Threads; Mivos Quartet: Celebrating Reich at 90; and Last Words with the YST Orchestral Institute, curated by Joseph N. Straus—featuring a programme of works by Aaron Copland, Ruth Crawford Seeger, and Alban Berg.

Through concerts, keynote presentations, plenary sessions, panel discussions and artistic presentations, Interweaving celebrates the many ways music, research and creative practice intersect—fostering new perspectives, meaningful collaborations and conversations that transcend disciplines, cultures and traditions.
